When a program manager is not really into data modeling but does want to get an idea what it entails. He hears team members talking about conceptual model, semantic layers, but also about a logical and physical/technical layer.
To someone who never has to deal with this part of data management it feels like ‘abracadabra’. To help the program manager along, I made a simple visual to accompany the explanation of what the difference is between a conceptual, logical, and physical model. When combining words with visuals you don’t only speak to someone’s left brain but also to someone’s right brain.
And that is just another example of the power of using visualizations during your work.
